Humility

Narcisim is alive and well. Everywhere you turn you hear someone boasting in themselves. Whether it be about something they've done, how they look, what material possessions they have aquired and various other topics. What ever happened to humility? I think we all need to take a bite of some humble pie every now and then and be brought back down to Earth. As my Pastor says, we walk around so high and mighty but all the while our halos are sitting every so crookedly on our horns. Funny when you first hear it but its true! Especially with Christians! I believe that's one of the main reasons why the Christian faith is stereotyped so much. You have people who claim to be children of God walking around treating others like they are better and acting as though they've achieved righteousness on their, own which couldn't be further from the truth. To people like that I would love to refer them to this verse of the Bible: Mark 10:18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good-except God alone." Now that's some humility for you! If Jesus responds to someone this way who called Him good, because lets face it, He was and is, but if He said this and He is the Son of God Almighty, how much more then should we, who are the adopted children, step back take a look in the mirror and humble ourselves. I love that verse out of Mark and it is one that I want the Holy Spirit to keep me in check with if I ever begin to behave as though I have a chip on my shoulder. Now don't get me wrong, i'm not saying i've never behaved as though I was "better" for a lack of better words, because that's not what I aim to do on this post. I am simply recognizing my faults and sharing my thoughts on the subject of humility. Feel free to comment and I pray you are having a blessed day, in Jesus mighty name!
